A fabulous new party dress for this season - heavily influenced by 1940s hollywood glamour...peplum, net neckline and applique. A modern interpretation.
This beautifully simple 1940s design takes influence from Hollywood and wartime styles where fabric use was restricted and designers had to get creative... We start with a beautifully simple bodice shape and straight skirt as a base (a classic 1940s simple style) in a black stretch crepe. We add a peplum skirt to enhance the hip and flatter the waistline. We cut away the neckline and insert spot net...cheeky! Then we hand stitch the beaded applique onto one side for a sumptuous addition.
Very film noir...elegant and demure.
We love how this dress flatters the figure and enhances the waist through the over peplum - a very common feature in the 1940s due to restrictions in fabric. The peplum was a great way of using a smaller amount of fabric to create shape.
We've made this version in our comfort stretch crepe - making this dress even more versatile.
